ULTRA LIGHT SERIES - SINGLE LAYER DESIGN

The Ultra Light range has a single layer of medium resolution cells to give you the lightest and smallest pack-volume mattress without compromising on Sea to Summit’s Air Sprung Cell comfort.

COMFORT LIGHT SERIES - HYBRID LAYER DESIGN

The Comfort Light range features dual layer construction in the torso for maximum comfort and insulation, and single layer construction in the head and legs where it’s needed less.

COMFORT PLUS SERIES - DUAL LAYER DESIGN

Dual Layer construction uses two independent high resolution layers, giving greater sensitivity by distributing your body weight and shape over more cells. The two layers are offset for more uniform insulation and cushioning. The Comfort Plus range provides the most effective system for fine tuning the level of comfort available in any air mattress today.If you are on uneven or bumpy terrain, then you can inflate the bottom layer of the mattress very firm at higher pressure as a barrier. You can then adjust the upper layer, using the fine tune valve, to a lower pressure to feel softer and more comfortable. The Dual Layer design also ensures a level of built in redundancy. If you do end up with a puncture in one layer of the mattress, then you can still get through the night with the other layer of the mattress intact.

EXKIN PLATINUM® 

Exkin Platinum® is a very lightweight, quiet non-woven fabric that has a thin metalised layer applied to the surface.Exkin Platinum® thermal technology reflects radiant heat loss back to the user.

THERMOLITE®

THERMOLITE® insulation, designed for ultimate performance, is made from specially engineered fibers to achieve a high CLO value with low weight. THERMOLITE® HL-1 high loft insulation is a fiberfill constructed with a unique 3D crimp of hollow-core and solid fibers, which provide excellent lightweight warmth with superior durability. The THERMOLITE® insulation lofts up inside the Air Sprung Cells™ to prevent convective heat loss from your warm body to the cold ground. Exkin Platinum® and THERMOLITE® are combined to great effect in each of the Insulated versions of our mats.

TPU EXTRUSION LAMINATION

Our TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) coating is applied through a process unique to the medical and aeronautical industries. Extrusion lamination is more durable, consistent and enables us to use our own TPU recipe. It is vastly superior to roll-to-roll lamination, which is used in all other outdoor products at present and can suffer from delamination issues. We have also introduced an anti-microbial treatment into the TPU to prevent mould or fungal growth inside the mattress. While we do have two superb pump options, the Air stream or Jet stream, the anti-microbial treatment means you can go ultra-light and inflate with your breath.

30D ULTRA-SIL® 

30D Ultra-Sil® is a 30 denier 240T Nylon made from a high-tenacity Cordura® brand yarn. High-tenacity nylon is stronger and more abrasion resistant than standard nylon fibres.We use two different versions of 30D Ultra-Sil®: a Sil/PU and a Sil/Sil version depending upon its purpose and use.

Sil/Sil - 30D high-tenacity Nylon with silicone impregnated on both faces. Silcone impregnation works really well with lightweight fabrics as it improves fabric tear strength, abrasion resistance and packability. Siliconised fabric has a measure of self-healing when punctured. This fabric has a water resistance of 600mm and is used where a product needs to be water-shedding and water resistant but not necessarily waterproof. We use Sil/Sil for products where ultralight weight and strength are most important, such as our Ultra-Sil® Day pack, Duffle, Shopping bag and Sling Bag.

SIL/PU - 30D high-tenacity Nylon with Silicone impregnated on the outer face and a polyurethane (PU) coating on the inside. It has a water resistance of over 2,000mm. The Silicone outer works really well for water shedding and to create a slippery surface for easy packing. The PU coating on the inside improves the waterhead rating and allows seam sealing tape to bond. We use Sil/PU in products that need to be waterproof, such as our Ultra-Sil® dry day pack, Ultra-Sil® dry sacks, Ultra-Sil® pack liners and many other products.

15D ULTRA-SIL

A very lightweight technical waterproof 15 denier nylon fabric. 15D Ultra-Sil® has a siliconised outer surface for improved water repellency to prevent the fabric from absorbing water and a PU inner face to create a water resistance of 1,200mm and allow seam sealing. We use 15D Ultra-Sil® for our Ultra-Sil® Nano Dry Sacks, Nano Tarp and trim for products like Ultra-Mesh Stuff Sacks.

ANTI-MICROBIAL

COOLMAX®

COOLMAX® fabric is the performance fabric that includes an effective fiber-based moisture management system. The system can move perspiration away from the body, and through the fabric, where it can evaporate quickly, allowing the wearer to feel cooler and more comfortable.

CORDURA FABRIC

Cordura Fabric Constructed using high tenacity fibre technologies, weight for weight, CORDURA® fabrics are exceptionally durable. Fact is, no matter the application, their fabrics are “best-in-class.” But more importantly, they have to pass their own stringent test criteria before they can earn the CORDURA® brand name. They’re available in a wide range of weights – from ultra lightweight to heavy weight. and CORDURA® fabrics come in many different constructions and textures. All in all, they’re the fabrics that make strong, long-lasting products even tougher.

70D WATERPROOF FABRIC

This is our standard high density weave waterproof fabric. It is a 70 denier 210T Nylon with a white interior polyurethane (PU) coating. The High density 210T weave gives the fabric a stronger tear strength and greater durability. The white PU coating increases brightness when looking into dry sacks made with this fabric. We vary the PU coating to make two different versions of this fabric: 2,000mm water head rated, and 10,000mm rated. The 2,000mm fabric is used in our nylon stuff sacks, pack covers, compression sacks. The 10,000mm fabric is used in our lightweight dry sacks, eVac dry sacks, dry compression sacks.

EVENT® FABRIC

eVent® is a proprietary waterproof/breathable membrane fabric. Like all waterproof/breathable membranes, its micro-fine pores allow the passage of water vapour, but not liquid. There are a number of waterproof breathable fabrics available, all with different characteristics. Traditionally, waterproof/breathable PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) membranes got clogged easily by body oils, which rendered them useless after a little use. The solution was to add a PU backing to protect the PTFE membrane. When thin enough, PU still allows vapour transmission, but at a much lower rate. Some manufacturers avoided the membrane and just used a PU coating. The PU has to be relatively thick to ensure sufficient waterproofing, resulting in even lower breathability. The genious of eVent was to make the membrane oleophobic (oil repellent), meaning it wouldn’t clog with oils, therefore didn’t need the inhibiting PU layer. At this juncture, eVent® is the most breathable waterproof (20,000mm) fabric we know of. It is sufficiently breathable that a pressure gradient can force air through it. We use eVent in this way as a purge valve in the bottom of our eVac Dry Sacks and eVent Compression Sacks.

IPX8 TESTED

Meets IPX8 testing standards: waterproof at 10 metres for 1 hour

PVC FREE

The product contains no Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) which is the single most environmentally damaging type of plastic.

15D ULTRA-VIS

Ultra-Vis is a 15 denier, 80 hole/cm2 hexagonal Nylon mesh. Being a lighter, more compact mesh than Ultra-Mesh, we use it for our Nano mosquito nets and headnets. It is the mesh we use when packed weight and space are at a premium. We use black Ultra-Vis in our Nano Mosquito Headnets for optimal vision, and grey Ultra-Vis in our Nano Mosquito Nets to strike a balance point between visibility through the mesh, and ensuring the mesh can be seen easily.

MICRO FIBRE TECHNOLOGY

Microfibre is an incredibly fine Nylon/Polyester fibre blend with deep channels along its length that give it an enormous surface area—a cross section of a microfibre looks a lot like the logo. When woven into a fabric we end up with a soft hand-feel fabric that is ten times more absorbent than cotton. Being a synthetic, though, the fabric can easily be wrung out and dries very quickly. Quick drying fabric is not only much more efficient and practical, it can be much more hygienic than fibres that retain moisture which promotes bacterial growth. We use three weights of microfibre for our towels: terry style Tek Towel; suede finish Drylite Towel; fine knit finish Pocket Towel.

BPA FREE 

BPA stand for 'bisphenol A'.  Used since the 60's to make plastics and epoxy resins it appeared widely in outdoor products such as water bottles, pots and pans. Some research shows that BPA can get into food and water through containers and that this can have an effect on your health.  For this reason Sea to Summit has stopped using BPA wherever possible.

FOOD GRADE HEAT RESISTANT SILICONE

The silicone we use in our products has been tested and surpasses the Japanese Food Testing process, which is the most stringent standard available. This means that there's foul taste, no BPA and can withstand considerable heat.

6063-T6 HARDENED ALLOY

Aluminium Alloy 6063 - T6 is a medium strength alloy and is sometimes referred to as an architectural alloy. Generally used in intricate extrusions it has an excellent surface finish, good corrosion resistance, can be easily welded and is easily anodised.  It is the perfect alloy for the X-Series pot bases.
