Events

We are firm believers in developing the sports we are associated and annually allocate  our marketing spend on event and sponsorship. Adventure Inc. is proudly  associated with the following annual events:

CAPE EPIC

The Absa Cape Epic  leads aspiring amateur and professional mountain bikers from around the world through approximately 800 kilometres of the unspoilt nature of the Western Cape and up approximately 16 000 meters of climbing over some of the most magnificent passes in South Africa. The race takes place over 8 days  around the end of March.

RHODES RUN

The Rhodes Run is staged in the tranquil beauty of the southern Drakensberg surrounding the Victorian-era hamlet of Rhodes.  The idea of the race came during a discussion between Reinhard le Roux and other Rhodes property owners over a couple of drinks one night in 1986. The intention was to put Rhodes back on the map before it followed the same fate as other small platteland villages which faded into obscurity. With the initial assistance of the late Peter Jooste, this vision led to the birth of a unique event on the South African sports calendar.

    MARION ISLAND

We are very proud to be assisting this special group of 21 scientific and biological researchers for Marion Island. Marion Island which politically forms part of the Western Cape is extremely isolated, receives an abundance of snow, ice and powerful winds ensuring there are no trees, very little vegetation and a boggy terrain. This group dedicate themselves to 14 months of scientific research on marine life, birds and weather systems, a huge commitment especially when fresh fruit and vegetables run out after three months!  Excellent quality gear is imperative!

KALAHARI AUGRABIES EXTREME MARATHON

The Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon is a self-sufficiency run held over six legs in seven days with set distances for each day, ranging from 28km to 75km.  Participants must carry all their supplies, clothes and compulsory safety/survival equipment for the duration of the event.  Overnight shelter in camps, and water, which is strictly controlled and distributed during the race, is supplied.  The event goes way beyond merely covering 250 kilometers in extreme conditions; it is a challenge to get past what normal people would regard as crazy, and achieve one’s personal goals.

The route details are only given to the participants on the day of registration, so there is no unfair advantage in planning.  The route is marked throughout the course, and offers a great contrast for everyone, with landscapes from fertile vineyards to the rocky outcrops, the vast outstretches of the Kalahari Desert, with temperatures varying from mid 40 degrees Celsius during the day to single figures in the evenings.
